What Is The GL Cup?
In memory of our late secretary, Graham Lawton, the club has established an annual football competition in his name: the GL Floodlit Cup. The cup’s format promotes ball control and possession, encouraging players to develop their skills and resulting in fast-paced, exciting matches under the lights at Reaseheath College.
When
February 19th and 21st, 2025 – Teams aged in the 24-25 Season
- Wednesday 19th February – U6 – U8 5.30 pm – 8:30 pm (6 v 6)
- Friday 21st February – U9 – U11 – 5.30 pm – 8:30 pm (6 v 6)
Outline Of Tournament Format & Rules
- Teams aged in the 24-25 Season
- Six teams per group
- Squad size – 10 players max
- Matches 6 v 6 – rolling subs
- Five games guaranteed
- Top four teams qualify for the final round (1v2 & 3v4)
- Fifteen minutes per game
- Keepers can only roll or pass the ball out (No drop kicks)
- Retreat from GK’s
- No throw-ins, only kick-ins (can’t score from a kick-in)
